the world's largest building

Global Center in Chengdu, Sichuan in western China, is so big that it’s got its own artificial sun. Indeed, at 500 meters (1,640 feet) long, 400 meters (1,310 feet) wide and 100 meters (325 feet) high, it’s massive enough to hold 20 Sydney Opera Houses or three Pentagons, according to local authorities. source www.ibtimes.com Yeah, I've been there many time. In fact, it is so big that you can rarely see the whole building due to the fog that's common in Chengdu. The indoor beach is only a small part of the building. A large shopping mall with many stores of all sorts, a food mall, many floors of restaurants, an ice hockey rink, a number of movie theaters, a hotel and offices occupy most of the space.

keep walking

Sometimes when I walk through Manhattan or elsewhere looking for pictures I haven't yet taken I walk into scenes that make me uncomfortable. I don't know what makes this guy deserve his position in life. Or why he deserves being the subject in a sneaky photographer's collection of images. I normally avoid taking pictures of the truly down and out when they're asleep. In some sort of respect for their integrity. Most homeless or alcoholic or drugged out bums are not bad people. Some are just unlucky. Or too weak to cope with the complexity of modern life. Some may even have chosen that life. However, this scene is strangely beautiful despite the sadness of the place. I've often found the worst looking places some of the most interesting ones to photograph. (This is on 30th street far west in Manhattan.) And if not else, this reminds me that the step from the comfortable kingsize double mattress and down pillows at home to a card board bed in the street isn't that

music under new york: ron gibbs

This is New York. If you can make it here, you can make it in any subway anywhere. Ron Gibbs. Jazz and Funk guitarist. Part of the program Music Under New York. A brilliant musician. I don't know if I should cry or laugh. I love music. Getting this quality of music for a dollar in a hat is amazing. As a listener. As a father of kids with extra-ordinary talents for music I'm not sure. Got to rush, got to rush. Can't miss that train. That's what keeps the kids in clothes. That's what keeps the kids off the street and above the ground. But, please, stop, for a second and drop, a dollar, in, that, hat. And don't forget to listen to the music.
